“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” (John 14:27)
The world tells you to pursue prosperity, popularity, and pleasure. Have you ever found these things to bring you peace?
God says, “Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it” (Psalm 34:14). Seek peace, not all the tantalizing worldly things that can often pull you away from the Lord and His peace.
Interesting that God tells us to pursue peace. It’s easy to think peace will just happen, if you were peaceful yesterday then today you will be. Peace will not just happen, its daily spending time with God and in His Word.
Often it’s our relationships that can cause strife and not peace. Hebrews 12:14 tells you to, “Pursue peace with all men.” It says, all men, not most men.
If you desire a life where you are walking by His spirit, then it will be important to do all you can to be at peace with all men.
Decide today you desire peace, peace with God, and peace with man. It’s a wonderful thing to discover how much peace comes as you encourage and build others up rather than tear down.
“Pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another.” (Romans 14:19)
