Rededicate yourself to God as a living sacrifice. | Overcoming Temptation

“I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” (Romans 12:1)

Sometimes we sin because we view ourselves as in control and in charge. Driven by our own agenda about what we want to do, we make mistakes and sin because we have not submitted ourselves fully to the Lord. God calls us to present ourselves to Him as a living sacrifice, something which is given up and consumed for His purposes. This implies that we surrender our plans and desires to the Lord, every aspiration and interest, every goal and pursuit. Selfish ambition is said to lead to disorder and “every evil thing” (James 3:13-16), and yet if we are honest with ourselves, and really ask ourselves why we do the things we do and what motivates us, we will find plenty of selfish ambition, the very thing that will cause us to stumble time and again. The next step, then in overcoming temptation, is to consider yourself as a sacrifice to God, dead to self interests and goals, and then take up your cross daily to follow Yahushua. Listen for His leading, and do what He wants done. There are no free people; you are either a slave to sin or a slave to righteousness (Romans 6:16-20). Rededicate your life to Christ and His service, and surrender to Him all ambitions, goals, and plans. Learn to listen and replace your interests and desires with God’s. This will help you overcome the many sins which result from self-centeredness and selfish ambition. It’s not about you; it’s all about Christ.

· Present your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

Romans 6:12-14, 12:1-2

· Consider yourself a slave to God, not free to do as you please.

Romans 6:15-20, Galatians 5:17

· Submit yourself wholeheartedly to learn and do the will of God.

Psalm 40:8, Hebrews 10:7, 36, James 4:7-8, 1 Peter 2:15

· Put Christ’s interests above your own.

Philippians 2:20-21

· Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness with diligence.

Psalm 119:4, Matthew 6:33, 2 Peter 1:5-11

· Make it your ambition to please Yahushua Mashiach/ Christ; be the faithful slave.

Matthew 24:45-51, John 8:29, 2 Corinthians 5:9-10, Colossians 1:10, 1 John 3:22

· Consider yourself expendable for the Kingdom of God; fight the good fight.

2 Timothy 4:6-7

PRAYER FOR REDEDICATION

SUMMARY: Making a renewed commitment to Christ has eternal implications.

Because there is such a precious gift inside, you want to make sure that you are in right standing with God. As you know, sin hinders the life of God flowing through your life. In the atonement for our sins is wholeness of every kind. Salvation is the greatest treasure ever given to mankind. So, run, today, into the arms of the Father and make things right with Him.

Evaluating Current Situation?

Perhaps you accepted Yahushua as your personal Savior. However, you may not be living for Him right now. Perhaps His love seems distant. Maybe you don’t even know if you are going to heaven. If you don’t feel as close to Yahushua as you did some time back, would you like to pray this prayer with me and rededicate your life to the Lord?

Father, in Yahushua’ Name, I ask you the best way I know how that you forgive my sins and take my life and direct it, lead it, and guide it, all the days of my life. I want to know You in a more personal way. Help me to grow in Your Word. I believe that You died on the Cross for me and that You were raised from the dead. I confess You as my Lord. I repent of my sins, both known and unknown, and I ask You to forgive me. Open my blinded eyes that I might see and know You better and that I might see and know myself.

Lord Yahushua, You chose me and appointed me to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last. You are the Gardener. You prune every branch that bears fruit, so it will be even more fruitful. Therefore, I yield myself to you. I commit myself to bring forth the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. I renounce and turn from the fruit of the flesh, because I belong to You. Even as I go from this place, help me to identify things of the flesh so that I can more fully give myself to You.

Father, I thank You that I am good ground. I commit to hearing Your Word regularly. I want to understand it. I desire that the Word would bear much fruit in my life. I want to be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth fruit in its season. Yahushua, help me to find a family of believers, who will help me to grow. I commit to look for those so that I can be accountable to your Word and daily growth.

Father, in Yahushua’ name, I thank You for filling me with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that I may walk worthy of You and become fruitful in every good work and increase in the knowledge of You.

Lord, let me know what I can do to serve You better. I give myself to You fully and ask You to please come in and take control of my life. In Yahushua’ Name I pray. Amen.

IMPORTANT: Because you are making a fresh commitment to follow the Lord, the Bible tells us to follow up on our commitment. Here are some great guidelines.

Spend time with God each day. It does not have to be a long period of time. Just develop the daily habit of praying to Him and reading His Word. Ask God to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.

Seek fellowship with other followers of Yahushua. Develop a group of believing friends to answer your questions and support you.

Go regularly to a local church where you can worship God.
