A look into the rapture of the church!

Prophecy is an interesting, yet intense subject for many in the body. While this study is not a heaven or hell issue, it is wise to see what the Lord spoke about his return and be better prepared for it. To begin with, let’s start with the word rapture. True, many of those who are opposed to it would say that the word rapture does not appear in the Bible. While, literally, the word rapture does not appear, let’s look at its meaning. The word rapture means the carrying of a person to another place or sphere of existence. Using this logic of carrying away, let’s begin with Enoch–The first person who was raptured or carried away by God. We don’t hear much about Enoch, but we do know that he was a prophet and had a glimpse of the end times (Jude 1:14-15)
(Jude 1:14-15 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”)
He was bold to speak out against the evil that he saw during his day. Friends, did you know that Enoch, probably, talked to Adam? Adam, who was alive at that time, talked to him about the glory that he saw in the garden. Also, an event, probably, got him closer to God and that was when his son was born. His son was named Methuselah—the oldest living person on earth. His name had a special meaning. It meant that his death shall bring Judgement. How would you like to have a son with that name? What brought about the origin of his name? The Bible does not say, but, I suppose that Enoch was praying over his son’s safety because he did not want to be deprived of his son nor see his society come into judgement. His birth could have sparked him to follow God more closely and preach righteousness to his generation. The fact of the matter is that Enoch had such a deep walk with God that he was the first person raptured.

The second was Elijah. This man was used by God in such a way that he called the high authorities of his time to attention. Signs and wonders followed his ministry. God took him in a chariot of fire and into heaven.(II Kings 2:11)
(2 Kings 2:11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.)
So, we see that rapture did occur in the lives of two people.

Contrary to what many people think, Yahushua spoke very little about the rapture to his disciples. Most of this revelation was given to the apostle Paul. Why? The apostle Paul spoke in tongues more than all the other believers. Through his speaking in tongues, he had a revelation. He wrote a great part of the New Testament because of this gift. This is one of the reasons why we see tongues being so much under attack in Christian circles, but, friend, don’t knock it until you try it. God will take you to greater heights in the spirit world and give you a revelation of his word. That revelation will transform you, your family and your generation if you allow the Spirit to have his way in your life. Such was the example of Paul. God used this revelation given to him to give us light of Yahushua coming. On the other hand, Yahushua, in his day, had to speak to his apostles concerning the end times and the millennium. Yet many who preached about the rapture would use Matt 24:29-30
(Matthew 24:29-30 “Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.) without taking in regard the words—After the tribulation. Folks, this is talking about the millennium (God coming to establish his kingdom on earth) not his coming in the air. Plus,if you read it all in content, you will see that it is speaking to the Jews.

Paul saw this revelation of the rapture in his writings.( I Cor 15:51-52)
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
Notice the word–Last trump. Many would say that it is when the seven angels would blow the seventh trumpets(Rev 15,16) but let’s not confuse these trumpets with the last trump of God .The angel’s trumpets are trumpets of wrath and judgement. This last trump of God is not a judgement trump, it is the catching away because God has not appointed us unto wrath. (I Thess 5:9)

Time is short. Things are happening at a fast pace. Most of prophecy has been fulfilled and the next great event is the coming of the Lord. Are you ready when he splits the sky and comes for his church? My prayer is that you will and see the salvation of the Lord. God bless.

Angel Santos
