Living His Way

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. (Psalm 37:4-5)

The Christian faith is unique. You don’t need to earn your own salvation. All you need to do is to trust in the sacrifice of the Lord Yahushua. This does not mean however, that you can simply live as you please. God calls you to follow Yahushua and persevere on that path.

Following Yahushua at every turn of your life implies that you take God’s instructions seriously inthat you trust in the goodness of those instructions. This is true not just for a few areas of your life, but for all areas. Like sexuality, to name just one. God is the Creator of sex and He wants us to enjoy it in the way He intended it. So He gave crystal clear directions in his word: honor marriage; do not sleep with someone who is not your wife or husband (yet). This way, you honor the beautiful gift of sexuality that God gave to you and you will save yourself misery and heartbreak that would come if you would ignore these wise rules.

The text from Psalm 37 encourages you to ‘commit your way to the Lord’- to entrust Him with it. It might be really tough to obey biblical teaching in the particular circumstances in which you find yourself. Maybe everyone around you is crying that it is best to do whatever ‘feels good’, and you feel like a fool denying yourself certain ‘pleasures’. Please remember that God is the Creator of your heart and He knows best what really satisfies. Delight in the Lord, find your satisfaction in his word, in the wise directions for life you find there – and He will give you the desires of your heart! Because when your focus is on God, He will purify your desires. God will not put your trust in Him to shame and He will give you everything you need. He knows what is best for you.

Thank You Lord for Your love which is so clearly visible in your teaching. Help us to trust in You completely and live our lives in accordance to Your Word. In the name of Yahushua, Amen!
