Think about it, nothing good happens until you become disciplined! God in His mercy didn’t want to make us into robots. So He didn’t impose His will on us, He said we should choose what we want to do and whom we want to serve, but He advises us to choose the way of life rather than the way of death.
If God forces us to do His will, we will no longer be free moral agents! We will become automated beings, somewhat like robots, but this is not what God wanted! God wanted us to be able to choose, because there is something that also brings pleasure to Him when we willingly decide to choose Him and to serve Him!
God will not choose a spouse for you but He will lead you by His Spirit if you ask Him. God will not force to be holy, but he advises:
… Be ye holy; for I am holy. (1 Peter 1:16 KJV)
As a child of God, you have to decide to live in the flesh or in the Spirit. Yes, you are now born again, you are a child of God and you are on your way to heaven, but your result here on earth is predicated on whether you are living in the flesh or not! It is true that you are no longer condemned as a child of God… but you need to read it well. You might be leaving something out.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ/Mashiah Yahushua, WHO WALK NOT after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1 KJV)
There is no more condemnation, not just for anybody, but for those who WALK NOT after the flesh, but after the Spirit! As a child of God, whether single or married, you must strive to walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh!
How does one walk in the Spirit and what does it mean to walk after the flesh? The answer is right there in verse 5
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. (Romans 8:5 KJV)
People that walk after the flesh are concerned about the things of the flesh, while people that walk after the Spirit are concerned about the things of the Spirit. So, the next question is what are the things of the flesh?
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:19-21 KJV)
There we see some of the works of the flesh listed, and when we are still embroiled with these as children of God, then we are walking after the flesh! A child of God who drinks alcohol is still walking after the flesh. A child of God who sleeps around or is in adulterous relationships is still walking after the flesh! Such people think that somehow they will make heaven and God will overlook their misdemeanors because they are workers in church, but my dear, the scripture cannot be broken, it says, such people will not inherit the kingdom of God!
What is walking after the Spirit? They are the opposite of the above. A good prayer life, sometimes with fasting, cultivating God’s presence, study of His word, forgiving lifestyle, a life void of strife and so on.
Some of the fruits in the life of a person walking after the Spirit would be:
…love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV)
This is a wide subject but I will conclude with these verses:
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:8 KJV)
It is a sober conclusion. No argument, no debate! If you walk after the flesh, you CANNOT please God.
If you cannot please God, you are not in faith!
But without faith it is impossible to please him… (Hebrews 11:6a KJV)
And whatever is not of faith is sin!
…for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. (Romans 14:23 KJV)
May you please God in your generation! May you please God and be able to walk in His favour, mercy and support in Yahushua’ name. May you live and be on the side of God. I infuse your inner man by the Holy Spirit with the might of God, with divine strength, to be able to walk after the Spirit in Yahushua name!
May your eyes open to see, that you can literarily walk in victory every day, you can have a beautiful relationship and marriage and you can have the help of the Holy Spirit in your daily endeavours!
