Walking with God

The Lord said to Joshua, “What did I just ask you to do? I told you to be strong and courageous and do not to be afraid. Don’t get discouraged, because I will be with you every step of the way” Joshua 1:9 (The Easy English Clear Word).

On the surface, this command from God seems simple. But when it seems like the whole worlds is against me and there seems to be no way out, being strong and courageous and not being afraid and discouraged can seem like a very tall order indeed. However, the last part of this verse gives us the answer; it shows us how we can do this seemingly difficult thing; it gives us godly advice on how we can face the challenges life throws our way, how we can conquer even the most difficult foes—because God will be with us every step of the way.

God never asks us to step out and do something without walking with us through it and giving us the strength, courage, and peace to do it. There is nothing that we ever have to face alone; God is always with us every step of the way.

The great story of the Bible is that God came down to dwell among us. Christ came to restore our relationship with God so that we could once again walk together in peace, so we could once again have an intimate, personal relationship with the God of the universe. And when we’re walking with the God Who created everything, what is there to fear?
