“Does a bird fall into a trap on the ground when there is no bait in it? Does a trap spring up from the earth when it captures nothing at all?” (Amos 3:5)
We have a unique privilege to be in a special relationship with the Lord. However, like the Israelites, we all fall into Satan’s trap that pulls us away from feeling privileged. We must renew our hearts and minds daily and remind ourselves: we are privileged to be His people.
We have a unique relationship with the Creator of our universe! In chapter 3, Amos reminded the Israelites that God had elected them as His people – and look what He had done! God delivered the Israelites out of Egypt! He reminded them because they had forgotten the privilege. The privilege of being in a relationship with God and knowing how much He loves His people.
But like us, the Israelites fell for the bait of sin. At this time in history, Israel was politically stable and growing in wealth. Israelites were building summer and winter homes made of ivory. During this time period, many wealthy people became wealthier. As their wealth grew, their morals declined. Sounds a little too familiar, doesn’t it?
We live in a prosperous times, for the most part, around the world. We may not feel wealthy compared to our neighbor, but we are. Satan knows the bait that each of us will fall for and dresses it up in a way that we can justify. We create that justification in our minds and continue in that sin.
God knew our sin problem was too great, and that we couldn’t save ourselves. What a privilege that God loved us SO much that He provided a solution through Yahushua Mashiach. Are you living in that privilege today?
Today, simply feel blessed and grateful for what you HAVE, not what you do not have… This life is but a test in the big picture and all that God wants for us. This world, this time is temporary; heaven is forever. How we hold ourselves now defines our awakening into our Lord’s Afterlife.
Take a deep cleansing breath and release all the negative that exists within you. Remember and meditate/pray upon your relationship with God and how you wish that defined. It is truly up to you. He is here, every second of ever day of each of our lives. He is watching. He is listening. You are blessed. Uplift another today, perhaps especially yourself, and BE BLESSED! +
