Seek the Lord and live

In the prophecy God gave Amos to deliver to Israel, he called the nation to repentance.

In the midst of oncoming fire and destruction, God offered mercy—a way that would lead to life rather than death.

“Seek me and live,” God told the house of Israel. “Seek the Lord and live.”

Throughout Scripture, God is merciful to those who turn from sin and seek him. As we saw in the book of Jonah, he is willing to hold off judgment when people hear his message, turn from their evil, and call out to him.

God is merciful. If you have wandered away from him, turn back. Cry out for mercy. Seek him and live.
