Luke 1:73-74 “the oath he swore to our father Abraham: to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear”
The reason why we are saved is to serve the Lord. Why and how can we serve him:
We serve him because, it is because of him that we live. The righteous in the old testament had revelation that the son of God was to come and because of this they lived a righteous life. He came and died on the cross for our sins, he rose to heaven by the resurrection power, he will come again to judge the living and the dead.
We can serve him by preaching the gospel to the one who does not know that it is because of him that we live on this earth. We have been cleansed in order that we should serve him.
Hebrews 9:14 “How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!”
But how can others be saved if you don’t take the gospel to them? If you stay with this good news meant for the one who is living in the world, how would they be saved?
Before Christ finally left his disciples,
Mark 16:15-18 “He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.””
The one who is saved will serve, because the one who is saved has love and will love those who are lost and will reach them with the gospel, so that they will be saved. The one who is saved is equipped with gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Grace and peace be with you.
